A very rare Edward VII commemorative horse brass (Ref:M5693) A rare antique cast horse brass, produced to Commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. The original applied centre is very rarely seen, and has the image of King and Queen with the wording 'Crowned 1902 - King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra'. Circa 1902.

A very pretty antique lion strap with 2 sun flower pattern stamped brasses. Under these are 2 unusual sun pattern harness decorations and 6 other studs (three each side) including 2 sun patterns. Circa 1900. All in excellent condition. Good harness wear and patina. 27.5 inches long x 3.3/8 inches wide. £49.99.

While this may have been true, horse brasses on leather straps were more widely used as status symbols for the wealthy. The development and use of brass in horse tack did not occur until the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st (1559-1603) in England.
